Marijk at work in Sweden

Marijk Renia

After her education as autonomous visual artist at the art academy in Tilburg (1987-1991), Marijk Renia settled in Dordrecht. She works and lives in the beautiful and water-rich National Park the Nieuwe Dordtse Biesbosch.


Many sculptures and installations arise in bronze and stone, among which the extremely hard Scandinavian granite that she learned to work with in a Swedish granite workshop. Along the way Water and Water life, in whatever capacity, become her most important themes.


When in 2012 Marijk encounters different glass processing techniques, she is so touched by the many possibilities of working with glass, that she wants to know all about it. Her former sculpting studio she radically changes into a glass studio.


The many possibilities of the high worthy Bullseye glass, that she works with, stimulate her to investigate further and further. This leads to surprising objects in a form language of their own, that refers to imaginary forms of life.
